Who's behind it

TheBidScout is built and operated by The Bid Scout LLC in Denver, Colorado.

Our background is data engineering — years spent cleaning, structuring, and making sense of large, messy datasets for major companies. That same discipline now goes into federal procurement data: taking thousands of noisy public records and turning them into a short, honest list a busy contractor can actually use.

We run lean, use automation where it helps, and stay focused on one practical job: helping small facility-services contractors find bids worth a closer look.

How we score fit

Your fit score is produced by a fixed, transparent formula — not a black box and not a guess.

TheBidScout compares your services, NAICS and PSC codes, set-aside eligibility, service area, bonding capacity, and licenses against each opportunity's codes, place of performance, deadline, and the mandatory requirements read out of its documents. Buyer award history is shown for context, and neither it nor contract size is scored yet — every report says so.

The scoring is deterministic: the same inputs produce the same result.

Every report is source-backed, so you can see where the facts came from and verify the opportunity yourself before deciding whether to bid.

How we use AI

We use AI for two jobs. The first is reading public solicitation documents and pulling out the requirements that are often buried inside PDFs.

The second, on our paid plans, is an advisory bid-readiness read: it compares those public requirements against the business facts in your profile — your services, codes, set-asides, service area, bonding, and licenses — and flags likely gaps before you bid.

AI still does not decide whether you should bid, and it does not generate your fit score — that stays a deterministic formula. The readiness read uses only the surface business facts in your profile; it is never given your email, it never touches payment details (Stripe handles those), and we don't collect personal contact details like a phone number or address in the first place.

We work every source we can to get you a real answer. When the public record still won't give one up, we label the item unknown instead of pretending to know — we would rather flag a gap than fake confidence.

Your data

• To create an account, the only personal information we ask for is your email.
• Sign-in is passwordless by default: we email you a secure sign-in link that expires after about 15 minutes. (You can set a password if you prefer.)
• We do not sell your data, we never spam, cold-email, or cold-call you, and we do not track your behavior across the web.
• We do run Google Ads to reach contractors — measured without cookies, with no personal data sent to Google. Our Privacy page explains exactly how.
• You can export or permanently delete the data in your account yourself, anytime.

TheBidScout has a Free plan that stays free (no credit card) and a Starter plan at $49/mo for the full Weekly Fit Report. We never auto-bill — you choose a plan first, and you can cancel anytime. The Free plan remains useful on its own.

What TheBidScout is not

TheBidScout is a prioritization aid. It is not a proposal writer, not an award predictor, and not a substitute for reading the solicitation before you bid.

TheBidScout is not affiliated with SAM.gov or any U.S. government agency. We use public procurement data and link back to official sources so you can verify the details yourself.
